Our History
Boone Prairie Farm is located just down the road from the historic Beaverton Settlement, which was established in the early 1880s by Norwegian settlers. Beaver Creek, which forms the southern border of the property, once held a dam that created an 80 acre lake. The original farmhouse was built right around that time, and still exists as part of the structure today. We’re proud to say that in all of that time, pesticides have never been used on the land. Twenty acres have since been restored to the native prairie that Illinois is known for. As only the fifth family to inhabit the land since the house was built, we feel honored to carry on this stewardship.
